Rehab facilities most commonly offer scholarships to those battling addiction; however, state-funding is an option for addiction-based scholarships. Not all patients attempting to attend rehab can qualify for grants and scholarships and partial scholarships may be available to patients who qualify.
If you or someone you love is struggling to afford quality treatment for drug and alcohol addiction, Charity Together, Inc may be able to help. Complete our quick and easy application process to see what we can do for you. Our organization has helped many struggling addicts find their way to treatment and we may be able to help you as well.
Types Of Scholarships And Grants:
Rehabs that offer scholarship programs allow patients to attend rehab at lower costs. Several types of scholarships are available depending on the facility, and some facilities provide scholarships to attend rehab. Types of scholarships and grants for rehab include but are not limited to:
Block grants are available via SAMHSA, called the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant (SABG) program. The program, “provides funds to all 50 states” according to SAMHSA, supporting individuals facing recovery such as women with kids, pregnant women, IV drug users, and primary prevention services (focusing those who are at high-risk for substance abuse) to name a few. Secondly, partial and full scholarships provide patients with financial support. Fortunately, patients can use insurance and still qualify for full or partial scholarships. Different facilities will cover varying percentages depending on their financial availability.
Qualifying For Scholarships:
Scholarships should be considered for prospective patients unable to finance alcohol and drug treatment. Scholarships are intended for patients who are serious about their recovery process and are dedicated to recovery.
Qualifying patients must, “have exhausted other types of support systems, are unable to fund their recovery and have already looked into Medicaid.” Future patients must be willing to experience rehab with dedication. Patients may need documentation for proof to qualify.
Financing Rehab: Insurance Options And Costs
Rehab can vary in cost, depending on if someone has used insurance or has used scholarships; however, both are different. Medicaid, Medicare, the Affordable Care Act, and other types of insurance are accepted at some facilities. This helps patients save money while getting care. Additionally, the cost of rehab varies based on the program one chooses. For example, inpatient would be more costly than outpatient since patients are utilizing the facility full-time. Future patients have the option of choosing the best type of program for their needs, considering what they expect from rehab and how involved they may be.
Some patients pay $250 to $800 for a month of detox. For inpatient rehab including detox, some patients pay $6,000 for a month; however, some facilities can cost between $12,000 to $60,000 to $80,000 for programs that span 60 to 90 days. For someone wanting outpatient rehab, they can save money since they are on campus for minimal hours throughout the week. They are not utilizing food, room, and board and can save more.
Some patients pay $1,400 to $10,000 for 3 months of outpatient rehab and others can pay $3,000 to $10,000 for intensive outpatient rehab. Factors like staying local versus traveling can impact the cost of rehab for patients as traveling for rehab is typically more costly. Other factors like polydrug use (combining alcohol and other chemicals) can reflect on the price of rehab and detox. Lastly, state rehab may be of little to no cost for some patients.
Charity Together works hard to provide treatment access to those in need through scholarships and financial assistance. We don’t believe that a person’s savings or insurance situation should dictate their future or their long-term health.
